How Did We Choose Her Name? || 4 Tuesday Talk

Today I want to reveal HER NAME and share with you how we came about choosing the name our little girl (due in 6 weeks!)

As new parents we had to play the name game. You know what I mean --

"Oh I love the name Clara!"
..."ooo, no ... I knew I mean Clara, what about Amanda?"
"Naw, I know way to many girls named Amanda!"
..."ok, then what about..."

The back and forth continues with narrowing down the list of potential names and crossing out some of your favorites. What became clear to us, was that if you agreed on a name -- you'd want to write it down and remember it, and if you still like the name months later -- it may just be a keeper! So here is the WINNER NAME for my husband and I -- we hope our daughter will love it as much as we do::
So darling right?! Well -- don't tell me if you hate it, because we LOVE it! We had this name picked out a few years ago, as our favorite girl name. In fact, we didn't find out the gender of our son prior to birth, so we had it chosen and ready, should a little girl pop out! Needless to say, we had a boy, and we've been holding on to it ever since.

Her middle name:: Charlotte
I've always loved this classically beautiful name from the first time I heard it. My best friend in Kindergarten and First Grade was Charlotte! She was sweet, caring and welcoming -- and she was from England which also made her quite elegant, in my opinion. She moved back to England after First Grade, but I cherished the time we had as friends. Josh also thought the name was sweet, and so we claimed it!

Her first name:: Ember - We liked the name Amber just fine, but had many friends and acquaintances with the name. We kept looking for something a bit more unique and defining in our family. When we came across the name "Ember" in a baby name list, we had smiles on our faces! We didn't know any girls named Ember personally, but liked that at first read, everyone would know how to pronounce her name, so it wasn't too off-the-wall made up or abstract.

Don't you think the little spark of life that is present in the embers just seems so well suited for a person, full of potential?

Fun tidbits of "Ember" that have added even more meaning to the name ::

Josh and I have both read and enjoyed The City of Ember. Which reminds me that I should totally purchase the Book of Ember series and have it in baby Ember's nursery! Maybe I can reread it during some late night feedings or watch it if I'm twiddling my thumbs at 42 weeks!
When we were sharing our "girl name" even before we were pregnant with baby #2, some friends asked us if it was inspired by the worship band "The Ember Days". "No", we told them, "we've never heard of them." So of course we had to look them up that night and WOW -- let's just say we are TOTAL fans now!
Just this last week, Josh sent me a text that simply said:

Hillsong Young and Free - Embers

Unbelievable

What a gorgeous addition of depth and a confirmation for us in naming our little girl!

Liv on Life - Going to the Park - Review + GIVEAWAY!

Now that I have a little girl in my life, I love getting acquainted to all things cute and girly :) Not that she will have to fit into a preformed mold, or anything, but that she may enjoy some things pretty, that little man may overlook ;) I was given a darling book to review this month as I celebrate a little girl coming into our world in a big way -- AND I'm going to giveaway one of these cute and meaningful books to one of YOU, my Mitchael Journey readers!
What I love about Liv's story:
  • She is a fun-loving kid who enjoys life
  • Her story is very relatable in this age of technology and distractions!
  • Her character is inspired by the author's own daughter!
  • I don't want to spoil the story ... but let me just say that I love the message! Liv wants to grow up and not be on her computer or phone all day. She and her pooch want her parents to take her to the park and be present in her life!
  • Her story is great for adults as well -- reminds me to be PRESENT in my family and take time to enjoy the simple things in life -- like pretty things, puppies, and parks!
  • She is optimistic and a dreamer, which are wonderful traits in a person.
The Illustrations The beautiful and whimsical illustrations are set on a very unique color palette, which reminded me of Neapolitan Ice cream :) which, of course, is very appealing!
This lovely text is the first book in a series called Liv on Life that is bound to be a wonderful collection for kiddos in your life! They also have a darling website with games and activities for enjoying life: http://livonlife.com/ Connect with Liv on Life through Facebook and Twitter too!

The Big Reveal!!! It's a .......... || Happy 33 Weeks Update!

I have some SUPER EXCITING news to share with you today!! We had our gender-reveal ultrasound just before Christmas! :)

How far along? 33 weeks! My pregnancy app says "49 days to go" -- haha, we'll see how that goes.

Gender? In beginning of December we loaded up and headed to get an ultrasound done to find out the gender of our sweet little baby #2 and check the anatomy to ensure everything was progressing as it should! With our previous ultrasound, it was a little too soon to confirm gender (14 weeks) -- and baby was being a bit shy keeping those little legs mushed together :)
But THIS TIME our little babe was doing gymnastics with one leg down and one leg up beside the little face -- aaaaand clear as day ... we're having A GIRL - a girl - a GiRl - A gIrL xoxoxox

We are THRILLED! and -- you all totally called it from the blog poll! Final Results:
We sent out pink bows to our family in the mail :) Here are a few pictures when they found out ::
(ps these hilarious people [my sister and bro-in-law] are the designers and crafters of Open Door Traders)
What's baby up to? Baby is about 4 pounds these days - about the size of a pineapple! Her immune system is developing and she can start differentiating between day and night based on the light coming in.

Total weight gain/loss? Insanely -- almost exactly the same weight gain as my first pregnancy. I'll spare you the numbers this time, because we don't have a scale at home -- but let's just say, my husband and I are getting more similar in weight these days :)

Maternity clothes? The loving women in my life have graced me with more maternity clothes for Christmas and my birthday!! Yay :) I have cute new tops and tanks -- and a new dress! Most normal pants don't clothes and regular shirts are somehow lacking in length ;)

Sleep? Isn't sleep such a wonderful thing! I am still getting a few morning naps in here and there -- when my mom was visiting, she let me sleep in... which was... shall I say, a dream! A sad reality is waking up to use the restroom throughout the night....and last night I had a horr.i.ble. charlie horse in the middle of the night -- I am still sore and limping today :( hubby is going to buy some bananas and avocados for me, thanks babe!

Best moment this week? I really enjoyed sharing my friends, home and community with my mom while she visited! We were showered with love!

For those of you that can see cuteness in ultrasound pics -- have a look at those sweet little chubby cheeks :) She's just a little dollie :)
Symptoms? Sciatic pain has been SO less frequent since my chiropractor visit. One thing that was super random was tailbone pain...I had never had that before! After church last week, it seriously felt like I had done some crazy move on the balance beam and landed right on it! ... after bathing, stretching, resting and Copaiba oil it is much much better, just a bit sensitive. Has anyone else experienced that? Tums have re-entered my life...I'm starting to get better at planning my eating/bedtime ... but the container does reside right by my bed if needed... get down and stay down acid. c'mon ;)

Food cravings? Josh is doing the Daniel fast right now (basically vegan PLUS -- as Daniel in the Bible did), so we haven't been buying any sweets. We were at the store the other day and I told him we had to buy chocolate! I had never been "that girl" ... until now :)

Food aversions? mmm... not really right now -- just watching my bedtime food consumption to prevent re-flux.

Belly button in or out? out :) Marshall thinks it is cute and ... he might think that it is the baby herself :)

What I miss? I guess feeling "agile" would be something I miss right now -- but I sure don't miss my December cold/cough -- I'm so thankful!

What I'm looking forward to? I'm just so excited to see what she looks like -- will she be a little twin of Marshall, or a completely different combination of Josh and I? What color will her hair be?

Bump Picture::

...and to celebrate -- I am giving away a darling children's book from the Liv on Life series about being present with people in our lives, Going to the Park - read my review HERE
