Our First Week + Postpartum Must Haves || Tuesday Talk

On Friday we celebrated our first week with sweet little Ember Charlotte! She is still such an angel and couldn't be better! On our follow-up midwife appointment on Thursday, Ember was already back up to her birth weight -- which was such an encouragement and milestone!
I thought I would share a few of my favorite things from this week! This is by no means all-inclusive list, but instead a few things I simply want to share today :) I would love to hear some items that have been your favorites in the newborn days!
Let's start with what little lady is sleeping in right now -- the Rock N' Play! This was a brand new product when Marshall was a baby, and friends got it for us as a group shower gift! It has been a favorite for us. You can move it around the room, give a little rock with your foot and it sleeps your baby at an angle, which is great for digestion! Plus, it's so soft and cute!
Fisher-Price Deluxe Newborn Vibrating Rock n' Play Sleeper
We received several velcro swaddles from our baby shower, and we've been using them consistently! I love that Ember feels safe and secure in them and is reminded of the safety she felt before birth. Also, her hands are not scratching her face when she's in these swaddles -- my husband is quite the expert swaddler!

Swaddleme Blanket
We've also been using our muslin blankets a lot! They offer lightweight coverage (great for Florida) and are just so darn cute! We use them to shade her from light and sun as well or as a quick breastfeeding cover.
Muslin Swaddle Blanket
This is a SWEET pillow called My Brest Friend -- I picked it up at a resale sale, and will snag any more that I find on discount for baby shower gifts. The cover is soft and plush while the pillow itself is sturdy -- giving an extra arm and preventing strain while feeding your baby. Also, My Brest Friend offers back support and little head cushions for baby! It was recommended by The Criso Breastfeeding Method.
Do you see that little pocket there on the side of the pillow? It's brilliant! It can be used to hold your water bottle, lip balm etc. Here are some of my favorites to pack into that pocket::

Honest Organic Nipple Balm
I really love this balm, a friend got both of the ones I've included below as a baby shower gift! I am pleased to say that I have not had any cracking or bleeding thanks to a great balm!

  • Helps relieve irritation & helps heal sensitive, sore or chapped nursing nipples
  • Calendula infused oil helps regenerate skin tissue & naturally heal
  • Olive oil deeply hydrates & soothes skin
  • Shea butter, tamanu & aloe keep nipples soft, supple & resilient
  • Only the highest quality, food-grade ingredients – no need to wipe off before nursing
  • Hypoallergenic • Certified Organic • Vegetarian • Ultra-Light • Naturally Non-Toxic • Safe for Ingestion

Honest Organic Belly Balm
The belly balm is another great formula that is specifically for stretch marks and can help tone back your belly! THIS WEEK I've been using this balm to help massage my squishy belly. I also recommend adding it to the sides of your bust where stretch marks may appear as your body continues to change.
  • A unique blend of organic butters, botanicals & antioxidants for optimal belly (& body) health
  • Organic shea butter, olive oil, tamanu oil & calendula help prevent stretch marks, improve elasticity & hydrate for soft & supple skin
  • Tamanu oil helps encourage healthy skin regeneration, while calendula helps encourage natural healing and reduce scarring
  • Restores moisture and suppleness while smoothing marks & toning skin
  • Nourishing botanicals & omega oils penetrate deeply to soothe the itch of stretching skin while strengthening connective skin tissue
  • Soothes sensitive & extra dry skin, including eczema
  • No harsh chemicals (ever!) – only soothing, natural, non-toxic ingredients
  • Hypoallergenic • Certified Organic • Vegetarian • Soothing • pH Balanced • Naturally Non-Toxic
If you have any questions about these items or other week one postpartum recommendations, please feel free to ask in the comments or on email ifrog4fr [at] gmail :)

  2. She is precious! Congratulations!! We couldn't live without the muslin blankets or the rock-n-play. And when a friend of mine let me borrow her breastfeeding pillow after a week of struggling on my own with just pillows, I swear there were angels singing!!

  3. That rock and play saved my life when my daughter was born. The first 2 months without one was hell and then I found it on Amazon and fell in love!
