Ember's First Beach Trip + My Sister Came to Town!

This past weekend was such a treat for me! My sister, Leah flew in from Arkansas to visit us in So Flo for the FIRST time since we've moved here :) I was really looking forward to her trip, because it is such a treat to have one-on-one time with Leah. She has two kids of her own, so it can be hard to get away, I am so thankful that she did!

We headed to the beach on Monday and had gorgeous weather! Seriously, I couldn't have ordered it more perfect! Ocean breeze, a bit overcast, warm - but not too hot -- and a wading pool sort of tide with the waves crashing far away from my sweet little son! We really enjoyed the relaxing time :)

Marshall and Leah worked hard in the sand, but not too hard!

 

 A nice man let Marshall borrow his bucket and shovel to create some sandcastles!

Josh and Ember waited in the car for a bit, thinking it would be too hot -- but we let them know that the temperature was ideal -- and they came to join us!

Ember slept the beach day away, but hey, she got to smell the salty air and feel the mist on her toes!

 It was so nice to just chill! Leah even buried Marshall in the sand! That's one way to keep him from running off, hands free!

Fern Forest Nature Walk - Fall Family Bucket List

Oh friends, we found a treasure of a place here in South Florida! We had several people tell us about this nature walk/retreat and decided to make a morning of it and enjoy ... Fern Forest!

I loved the variety of plants and moss! It was so relaxing and enjoyable to walk through the woods as a group, lingering, chatting and strolling along.

 Some parts were more marshland and others were more forest-like. When we stopped to take a couple of pictures, the little kiddo over here decided to throw his water-bottle off of the landing. Unfortunately, we were in the swampy area.

 Thanks to my dear old husband and our fun-loving friend -- the bottle was retrieved ... long-stretching arms, stomach laying, foot-holding and sticks can be thanked as well!

Family Coffee Shop Dates

One of the loveliest things is going for a rainy fall drive to a family coffee shop date. This is one of our favorite Monday activities, since it is my husband's day off, and most everyone else is not out and about! Around our home we have zillions of Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts..."Hangout" coffee shops are quite hard to come by --which makes me a little bit sad when I think the casual local places that are found all over Northwest Arkansas --including:

• Onyx Coffee Lab
• Pour Jon's Coffee and Vinyl Shop
• Iron Horse Coffee Company
• The Cafe on Broadway
• Arsega's The Depot
• Mama Carmen's Espresso Cafe
• Kennedy Coffee Roasting Company

Dear South Florida...where have all of the cool places gone? Well -- we found one thanks to recommendations from our lovely Coastal Community Church family --

Here are some pictures from our last family date! Today we're checking "Enjoy a 'Fall' beverage" from our bucket list! The boys started off with ordering a gluten-free cupcake, mocha, and chai!
