A Few Favorites!

Alrighty friends -- I thought we could get a little more acquainted!
Here we go -- a few of my favorite things [not people or places ...just things] ...in the order that I randomly thought through them :)

1|| Raspberries!
Oh goodness -- they're a wonderful creation! Frozen raspberries, fresh raspberries -- both distinct and lover-ly!

Best memories include:
  • cooling down on hot days with frozen raspberries and college friends
  • going raspberry picking with my mom while my dad and hopeful boyfriend, Josh *wink* had "THE talk!"
  • being handed fresh raspberries while my eyes were closed, as my soon-to-be-finance got one one knee!
  • Raspberries in my wedding reception and my take home package! Thanks family :)
2|| Ultimate

Seriously -- such an amazing sport, great camaraderie and a great way to run off the stress of life and just go for that disc :)
Wanna know how the game is played? Check it out HERE!

3 || Moss
Beautiful, soft, simple, peaceful. I heart moss!
4 || Hiking
Being out in nature, exploring, pushing my physical limits, and being out of breath for breath-taking views -- hiking is SO wonderful, and is definitely one of my favorite things! I loved the summers that I was a hike guide at Horn Creek!
5 || Singing
Wherever, whenever -- for the glory of God :)
And there you have it!

Josh Mitchael Music - and thoughts on worship

Let me introduce you to my husband, Josh! He serves as a Worship Pastor at Coastal Community Church in Coconut Creek, FL. This summer, Josh is co-leading a music Connect Group to join together in song writing and creativity. I can't wait to hear the results! I am so thankful for this community and Josh's heart for our Savior, Jesus.
He has has released a single on iTunes. We'd love to have your support!  To download YOUR GRACE, click HERE
I would love to share some of Josh's thoughts on worship::

One of the most influential things I’ve learned about worship is that it does not stop. We’re always worshiping something. Harold Best says in his book Unceasing Worship, “When we sin, worship doesn’t stop. It changes direction.” When I sin, I take my eyes off the cross of Christ and become an idol worshiper. Regardless of my struggles and failures, Jesus is my Savior, Healer, Rescuer, Redeemer, and my King.  I long to see people come to know Jesus and take their passions and use them for his glory. Just as Jesus invested in a very focused group, I long to be in a community that is sharing each other’s joys, sorrows, struggles, practices the spiritual disciplines necessary for a growing relationship with Jesus, keeps each other accountable, and carries each other’s burdens. I dream of a group like this that lives to be like Christ and shares his message of salvation and eternal life. In the words of singer/songwriter Jon Foreman, “I wanna thrive, not just survive.”

Getting Settled In: Ministry Update

Here we are already over a month into our new life in South Florida! We love our church - the people in it, the leadership and the TRUTH and HOPE of Jesus that is taught week after week! With Easter coming up next week, I have butterflies in my stomach - I know people will step into our building that only do a few times a year, or maybe it will be their first time to truly hear to the gospel. As with every series we are given 2 or 3 invite cards in our sermon guides during weeks leading up to the next series. This Easter::
So far Josh and I have personally invited a pizza chef and an Enterprise car assessor - we also left an invite card in a pre-paid Aldi shopping cart- I prayed for the person who might receive that card next might find a bit of encouragement and a reason behind it. I wish I actually knew people here other than from church so I could invite others coming out of a natural friendship, but so far, that's still something I'm hoping and praying to have. Apparently, out of the "unchurched" 7 out of 10 will never get invited to church. 8 out of 10 of your friends will come, if you just ask them and 2% of Christians never share their faith --woah! Let's step it up!

Have you ever invited someone to church? Did they come? Did someone ever invite you?

I have joined a She Reads Truth
connect group with some AMAZING ladies on Wednesday nights and have gained friendships through studying the book of Acts together and letting ourselves be challenged to take bold action for God's will in our lives.

Josh and the Coastal leadership team traveled to the Arc conference where they heard from wonderful and empowering speakers and met with fellow church planters and leaders!
We have also been pumped about helping in some outreach volunteer projects through Coastal. Josh was able to meet and pray with people at Adopt-A-Block outreach in Collier City. Coastal is faithful to be in Collier twice a month. During this outreach we are able to love people through cleaning up, food distribution, children's activities, visiting people in their homes and much more. Loving God, Loving People & Showing It. I look forward to being involved in their kids outreach during that time called KidsJam!
A few Saturdays ago, I was able to be involved in a clean up at S.O.S Children's VillageWe raked and cleaned up over 200 bags of leaves, power washed & trimmed trees.

Sunday mornings have been truly a blessing! Josh is leading so well, and enjoys getting to know the worship team even more as the weeks progress. It is always good when God's people worship Him in Spirit and in truth. There is definitely an environment created where people can meet with God, maybe even for the first time!

SELAH

Josh and I had a great time at SELAH on Wednesday night with our Grace Hills family! It was such an encouragement to worship alongside students. Neil surprised Josh with his new electric guitar just in time to get tuned up and play around a bit before we got started! Josh was elated! He's been waiting for this pretty instrument to come in since February. We concluded they were growing the tree, but it was worth the wait for quality!

It was a very special night--Josh's leadership through music and exhortation spoke so strongly to our hearts. It was so fun to sing alongside him! We got to mix and mingle with the students for a prayer time while Josh played some music on his phone so that we could bridge the gap between "stage" and "congregation". We're all the church!

Phil spoke on endurance and used examples from his personal testimony, a special father and son, and our savior Jesus. My mind jotted down as many notes as it could as I look forward to some serious endurance in the next month or so and beyond.

Last night we had rehearsal at CCF for Sunday morning's worship service. Josh is filling in a few times this summer while they are looking for a new worship leader.

Afterward we got to hang out with some great friends and newly weds, Matt and Johanna! Their new home is getting all set up as they've been settling in during the past week. We swapped fun stories and prayers for the decisions and turning points ahead.

You hold me now
Come Lord Jesus Come
