My Monthly Goals - June 2015 - #friendswithgoals

Here's my honest report on how things went last month!
May Goals::
1 || Go on a date [or two!] with Josh
We went on a date! I had SUSHI! Salmon deliciousness :) It was lovely, even with our little sweetheart third wheel, Ember! It was so nice to get dressed up and get out with my man :)
2 || Be more supportive - I really think there was an improvement in this realm for May!
3 || Get rid of 10 items per week - less intentioonal than I wanted to be, but I still think we accomplished about 3 per week :)
4 || Don't get sick, get energy - I didn't get sick!! And if waking up one morning and deciding to clean the grout in the kitchen and bathroom is a sign of energy, I'd say this was a WIN! Apparently, the kitchen grout isn't black, but a sandy color! :)
5 || Begin exercising again - begin, yes :) A couple of walks to the park, mowing, weed-eating and a little sprint up a hill. We're moving, getting there!
6 || Save my paychecks - yeah -- I feel good about this one
7 || Share The Best Yes with others - If you missed it, here was the post! I was able to join with other bloggers and send 3 copies to readers! I pray it is changing lives and slowing the rush in these ladies' lives.

It's a new month with new hopes! I'll be using some inspiration from my Goals for the New Year as I plan my June goals, and the months to come!

June Goals::
1 || Read the Bible daily - I am skipping days here and there, and want to be more consistent!
2 || Reorganize bedrooms - We're getting new carpet from our friends, and need to clear clutter below beds and in the closets
3 || Date Josh! - Father's Day and Josh's 26th birthday are both this month! Time to celebrate :)
4 || Write 5 Thank-You notes - I want to mail out a few more thank-you's and make this a habit in the future.
5 || Plant Swiss chard and cauliflower - I purchased some seeds, and look to start them this month, whether in the garden or as indoor seedlings!
6 || Learn about avocados and harvest - We have an avocado tree in our backyard! I need to know when to harvest them
7 || Go for a jog or few and walks - Continuing on my goal to a 5k this year!

Now, it's your turn! What are some goals that are important to you for the month of June?

My Monthly Goals - May 2015 - #friendswithgoals

April was a transitional month for me and my family. We have been getting back in the swing of things, reorganizing and refocusing. I have to say, I like how April went! I hope that May can be just as beneficial. Taking stock of what we have and what we're doing and adjusting to The Best Yes for our family!

First things first, here's how things went for my
April Goals::
1 || Fully engage in the staff connect group Freeway: A Not-So-Perfect-Guide to Freedom
I'm lovin' it! Enjoying the freedom in Christ I'm growing in through this book and group and have only missed one ... when my sister was in town :)
2 || Record bedtimes/wake times of Marshall and myself! -- oops...nope!
I didn't end up doing this much. I guess I didn't know when to consider "bedtimes" when I had to get up in the night a bit for one kid or the other sometimes around midnight etc. I figured, maybe not looking at the clock would help my sanity in the end :)
4 || Transition well back to work  -- working on it!
I've been working too hard, and have modified my hours to accommodate my family -- 29 hours a week proved too much (I thought it might), and my manager has worked with me on this. I will be down to 14 hours a week starting May 11th!
5 || Stay healthy
I got a cold the first week in April - congestion mostly. Knowing I had set this goal, I was super disappointed at first on this one. BUT I decided to KICK this cold in the face -- upping my vitamin C and Zinc intake, drinking shots of Apple Cider Vinegar, drinking more water, cutting out sugar, eating garlic, gargling with salt water, and doing a Oregano Oil nose spray! Whew! Let's just say, that cold didn't last much longer after that!
6 || Write an update [or two] on my garden!
YAY! I wrote one HERE!

I'll be continuing to incorporate my Goals for the New Year in the coming months as I plan my May goals, and the months that follow.
1 || Go on a date [or two!] with Josh
It's been over 6 weeks since our last date, so this is moving up to #1 priority. Sure we have to bring along our little baby girl, but she's a sweetheart!
the handsome and the silly one
2 || Be more supportive
At times, I can drag and get whiny and complain. It is my goal this month to encourage my husband intentionally, cheer him on when he leaves the house for work, rather than give a mopey good-bye.

3 || Get rid of 10 items per week
This idea came from one hundred dollars a month. I've started a box already, but basically you walk around the house and add 10 things to donate in order to de-clutter and give! It's kinda like a game!

4 || Don't get sick, get energy
Amp up that healthy eating and supplementing. Hopefully I can meet this goal and feel great this month!

5 || Begin exercising again
Now that I'm 6 weeks postpartum, it is time to get moving! I'm hoping to time out some morning walks with the kiddos.

6 || Save my paychecks
I want to save as much as I can from my part-time income, after we give to the church. I'd love to put the remainder entirely in savings -- so I'll let you know how that goes :)

7 || Share The Best Yes with others
Literally! I'm hosting a giveaway [3 copies of The Best Yes] during these first several days of May to encourage readers and friends to be intentional about their decision making! Be sure to enter here.
Now, it's your turn! What are some goals that are important to you for the month of May?

My Monthly Goals - April 2015 - #friendswithgoals

April is a month of stepping further into my new role as mommy of two and learning to thrive. One of my favorite phrases comes from a song that both my husband and I love, "I wanna thrive, not just survive" from Switchfoot! I hope to embrace that concept this month as things continue to change in my little world.

First things first, here's how things went for my
March Goals::
1 || Mail out baby shower thank-you's!
YAY! I got these sent out for those I had addresses for -- friends and family keep showering the gifts, so now I have more thank-you's to write! :)
2 || Be patient and present in the waiting for Ember to arrive.
This was super hard -- thankfully my parents were a great help for fun and walks. I have to say, I started to loose my mind, though -- since I didn't have her until 40 weeks 5 days! I stopped working after my due date, so I do think I was able to be more present, but boy does waiting mess with your mind! And SHE'S HERE NOW, so all that waiting paid off!
3 || Trust the LORD Jesus in labor and birth, relying on the Spirit, and not my own strength!
God pulled through in a tremendous way! I can't wait to share the full story, but we were able to have Ember in our home [living room!] just as we had hoped and prayed, and didn't have any complications that would merit a trip to the hospital :)
4 || Balance our March family visitors well with our new baby
I have to say, I really think that the mutual communication worked well on this one :) I was able to hand off a lot of responsibilities to family while I rested. I am amazed at their sacrifice and joy in serving!

I'll be continuing to work through my Goals for the New Year in the coming months as I plan my April goals.
My April Goals::
1 || Fully engage in the staff connect group Freeway: A Not-So-Perfect-Guide to Freedom
Lord willing, will be able to prepare and participate in the Freeway group both this month and next. It is my prayer to win spiritual battles and build in trust and friendship with those in the group! We just had our first group meeting last night, and I am quite excited about this workbook and how God will work on me!

2 || Record bedtimes/wake times of Marshall and myself!
I got this idea from one of our #friendswithgoals link-up ladies from Morning Motivated Mom and think that it will really help our schedule! This may be hard to keep up with, but I'm hopeful!

4 || Transition well back to work
I work part-time at home for a social media company and will be starting back (gradually at first) this month. I hope that I can keep everything in check and be a mommy and worker to the best of my abilities -- and reevaluate my schedule as necessary if I need extra help! I could use prayer in this department.

5 || Stay healthy
When serving others, it can be hard to remember to have good self-care! One of my goals this year was to build my immune system -- this month I want to keep up with my vitamin regimen and eat and drink water often! Goal--not to get sick/anemic! Also, little girl needs me to have healthy milk!

6 || Write an update [or two] on my garden!
We've been harvesting yummies from our garden lately! I want to compose a couple of posts about this to document and share our progress :)

Now, it's your turn! What are some goals that are important to you for the month of April?
Bloggers, be sure to link-up below, and encourage one another! Others, please leave your goals in the comments below! I would love to see you come back to check in the 1st of each month with your progress!

My Monthly Goals - March 2015 - #friendswithgoals

February was a quick one, wasn't it, friends? What sorts of things did you do or accomplish? I checked off a few items on my to-do list [including finishing taxes!!] as well as doing pretty darn well on my February Goals. We didn't get to save quite as much as we had hoped [goal was 80% of my part-time paycheck], because we took our car into the shop for a few issues, including the dreaded check-engine-light and shaking during gear changes. Anyways, I still count it as a victory that we were able to pay for those issues in "cash" to be resolved and get the tune-up that it needed before we put a new little baby in her car-seat :)
There is a lot to celebrate today, March 1st! Not only is it a new month, and my wonderful father-in-law's birthday, but it is also Ember's BIRTH MONTH! Little Ember will officially have a March birthday!

In light incorporating my Goals for the New Year a little each month, I have only a couple of goals this month. My New Year's Resolution #4 || Prioritize the best choices for me and my family - practice The Best Yes and #6 || Grow to thrive as a mom of two and a wife will be set in high gear!
March Goals::
1 || Mail out baby shower thank-you's!
I'm so excited to say, I finished writing these this morning! Now I just need to purchase stamps and pop them in the mail -- woohooo!
2 || Be patient and present in the waiting for Ember to arrive.
I'm 39 weeks today -- and I'm ready for baby, but I don't want to disregard or wish away the way things are now. *I appreciate your prayers on this!
3 || Trust the LORD Jesus in labor and birth, relying on the Spirit, and not my own strength!
I'm planning on home-birth #2, and pray that it will go well! I also pray that, should we have to transfer to the hospital that God will help me to accept and appreciate the care that is best for baby.
4 || Balance our March family visitors well with our new baby
I can be a people-pleaser, but I know that this can have pitfalls. My goal is to know when to say, "no" and when to say, "yes"!

Now, it's YOUR TURN! What are some goals or resolutions that are important to you for this 2015 year? Bloggers, be sure to link-up below, and encourage one another! Others, please leave your goals in the comments below! I would love to see you come back to check in the 1st of each month with your progress!
